One man was hospitalized after being run over by a teenager early this morning, according to East Greenbush Police. Now the teen is facing vehicular assault charges.

Around 1:15 a.m. Tuesday, June 10, police were called to the Greenbush Station Apartments on Columbia Turnpike for a report of someone “doing donuts” and screeching tires in the parking lot. Officers arrived to seeing a man being thrown from the hood of a car and then run over.

Logan Marschner, 18, of Nassau, was still behind the wheel of the 1999 Toyota Solara and arrested, charged with Vehicular Assault (2nd Degree), Reckless Endangerment (1st Degree) and DWI. He was held overnight in the Town lockup and arraigned this morning by East Greenbush Town Justice Kevin Engle and sent to the Rensselaer County Jail with bail set at $25,000. He is due back in court Thursday.

According to witnesses, two residents of the complex “who got up to investigate the racket in the parking lot, both approached the Toyota and tried to wave it down to stop,” police said in a statement. Marschner stopped, got out, confronted and threatened them if they didn’t get back in their houses. Another resident told him police were coming. So Marschner got back in his car and, despite being boxed in by the people standing around, drove forward anyway, hitting one 33-year old man who was thrown onto the hood of the Toyota, police said. Moments later, he was thrown to the ground and then run over, according to Officer Robert Snyder.

As Snyder gave pursuit, Marschner drove through the alleyways of the complex and briefly disappeared but was later found within the complex where he had found an empty parking space and stopped, trying to hide, police said.

Bruen Rescue Squad provided first aid and took the man to Albany Medical Center where he was treated and released.
