DEEP PURPLE: Please Don't Be Like KISS

If and when Deep Purple is ever inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, singer Ian Gillan is under the illusion that the band's current line-up will be recognized. He says despite being on speaking terms with former guitarist Ritchie Blackmore, he has no desire to perform with him, adding that it would be "insulting to [current guitarist] Steve Morse... So if that's the stumbling block, fair enough. Never the twain shall meet... So to go back to the question of 'Would we do the show with Ritchie?' I think that would be hugely disrespectful to what I call the living, breathing, DEEP PURPLE. There's always been a living, breathing, DEEP PURPLE, good or bad at any stage of our evolution, and how it is now is particularly healthy and it wouldn't be right."

Blackmore was recently quoted as saying he had no interest in the Hall of Fame and would "never go. I'm not really a fan of that stuff. Considering some of the people that are in the Hall of Fame, I'm not sure if it's a good idea, so I don't care one way or the other."
