After scrapping a batch of North American tour dates this summer, Van Halen is now pulling out of its Japanese tour -- for medical reasons. Guitarist Eddie Van Halen underwent emergency surgery for "a sever bout of Diverticulitis," an intestinal disease, according to a posting at the band's official Facebook page. The note goes on to say that "No further surgeries are needed and a full recovery is expected within four to six months. Van Halen's scheduled November 2012 tour of Japan is currently being rescheduled and the band looks forward to seeing and playing for their fans in 2013." Van Halen played North America earlier this year to promote "A Different Kind of Truth," its first new album in 14 years and first with David Lee Roth since 1984. The group came off the road in late June after canceling 32 scheduled shows, including a planned date at Detroit's Joe Louis Arena. Van Halen was rumored to be under consideration for Super Bowl XLVII in New Orleans next year.
