Dr. John Cooper
Born in Latvia, Dr. John Cooper
migrated with his parents to this
country and grew up on his father's
beet farm. Poor, the only enjoyment
the family had was an old radio his
father recieved in a trade for his older
sister. Evenings were spent listening
to Amos 8- Andy, The Lone Ranger and
other old time radio shows which led
to his interest into the broadcast
industry. Alter 17 years as host of
Ohio's KHOG "Swap Shop" John hit the
big time by swaping his pet hamster,
Mason, for a degree from the College
of Musical Knowledge which he used
to land a gig in Central New York. From
there it was no where but up.
He joined PYX 106 after a short stint on Broadway in Michael Jackson's "The WIZ". His meteoric rise to the top as Program Director came as a surprise to all in the industry. When asked his most memorable moment in radio, John replied, "my interview with the guy who lived next door to the guy who was the third cousin of the guy who whittled a pair of drumsticks for Pete Best."
