Joan Jett has been honored for her work as an animal activist. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame nominee and lifelong vegetarian received the Nanci Alexander Activist Award from PETA at a gala in Florida on Sunday. The organization's founder Ingrid Newkirk praised Joan for taking "every opportunity to talk about the importance of being kind to animals, and she's among the most dedicated activists I've had the pleasure of knowing. People listen when this star talks. She's had a positive influence on countless fans."
