It’s almost a rite of passage to be the musical guest on NBC’s iconic sketch comedy show, Saturday Night Live. For many bands and artists, playing on the studio’s stage is a pretty good indication that they’ve made the big time.
That being said, Paul McCartney is a stone cold veteran.
NBC announced on their Saturday Night Live webpage that the former Beatle will be the December 15th musical guest on the show with host, comedian Martin Short.
This will mark McCartney’s fourth time taking the stage at the infamous 8H Studio in Rockefeller Center as the musical guest, but that’s not the only part of SNL the singer has experienced. Over the years, Paul has also appeared in digital shorts, made a cameo in the in the Weekend Update segment, and perhaps most memorably, shared the stage with a bumbling and nervous, Chris Farley.
His SNL appearance will come only three days after his scheduled performance at the 12-12-12 Hurricane Sandy Benefit at Madison Square Garden; a benefit which will also include the likes of Roger Waters, Bruce Springsteen, The Who and Billy Joel, among others.
