If you’re seeking a late Christmas present for the Rolling Stones fan in your life, you have “One More Shot!” NME reports that the group’s 2012 documentary, Crossfire Hurricane will be released on DVD/Blu-ray on January 7th, 2013.
The movie was initially released to theaters around the UK in October, but was broadcast again on BBC2 in conjunction with the Stones’ two 50th anniversary shows at the O2 Arena in London on November 25th and 29th. The film also aired on HBO last month. Crossfire Hurricane, directed by Brett Morgen, covers the group’s long and impressive career, from their earliest beginnings in the 60s all the way up until now.
Helping to tell the story are the band’s major players, with Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Ronnie Wood, Charlie Watts, Bill Wyman and Mick Taylor all providing exclusive insights into what it means to be a Stone. The Rolling Stones are still on their way to the peak of their 50th anniversary celebrations, with three huge concerts coming up: one at the Barclays Center in NYC on December 8th, and two at The Prudential Center in Newark, NJ on December 13th and 15th. The final Newark ’50 & Counting’ show will be broadcast live in the pay-per-view event “One More Shot”, which airs at 9pm EST via World Wrestling Entertainment, along with Dainty Group and Endemol for $39.99.
The UK rockers also just signed on to perform at the 12-12-12 benefit concert at Madison Square Garden on December 12th, which will raise money for the victims of Hurricane Sandy. Other performers on the lineup include Bon Jovi, Eric Clapton, Billy Joel, Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band, Roger Waters, The Who and Paul McCartney.
