The Sidewalks formed in Houston during the mid-60s, gaining a local following and producing a No. 1 hit in Houston with "99th Floor."
The group released one album, "Flash" in 1968, an EP and several singles, all of which will be included in the compilation. It split up in 1969 when Summers and Moore were drafted into the U.S. Army; Gibbons put together the first edition of ZZ Top that year, settling into the familiar lineup with bassist Dusty Hill and drummer Frank Beard in 1970.
There's no word on whether the Moving Sidewalks might play more shows, but ZZ Top will be on the road in 2013, with summer dates already announced in Ireland and at the annual Sturgis Rally in South Dakota.
