Queen's guitarist Brian May is not a fan of NBC's hit reality show, "The Voice." In his blog post this week, May calls the reality competition show "the ultimate insult to music and to performers."
The legendary musician continued with his critique, saying that singing competitions debase the young musicians trying to break into the industry, particularly taking issue with the show’s blind auditions, in which the judges sit with their backs facing the performers.
“When we sing, or play, for real, we are NOT screaming at the top of our lungs trying to persuade someone to notice us,” May wrote. “The performance is all about EVERYTHING the performer gives … in voice, in sound, in body language, in facial expression, in intimate eye contact.”
May finished the post, part of an ongoing blog called “Bri’s Soapbox,” by saying that he hoped the “vile” show would be cancelled in the near future.
