Bon Jovi will be kicking off the North American leg of their "Because We Can Tour" tonight (July 12) at Chicago's Soldier Field. We'll see them in two weeks at SPAC. Tickets are still available at LiveNation.com.
The big talk around this tour hasn't been the new single or album but the absence of Richie Sambora in the band. While fans will not "hear" the difference in the set list of hits that Bon Jovi cranks out at every show, they have noticed the band is different without Richie. As a review for Der Bund, a Swiss newspaper, noted: "guitarist Sambora missing on the defiantly titled "Because We Can"-European tour and was replaced by the faceless studio musicians Phil X." The reviewer also noted that without Sambora's interaction with Jon Bon Jovi on the stage, the show focuses on Jon who turns to the crowd for the emotional responses he'd get from Richie during "Keep The Faith" and "Livin' On A Prayer."
