My daughter celebrated her 10th Birthday with a Slumber Party last night. I find it funny they call it a slumber party when the five girls that stayed the night at my house did about 6 minutes of sleeping. I remember when I was at that age, going over to a friends house, staying up all night watching movies or playing video games. The evening was usually fueled with tons of soda and sugary snacks.

What's different now as the 30-something parent is trying to get some sleep while the gaggle of giggling girls on the floor benath you, keep you awake for half the night and you're wondering what they are laughing at and if you should get up to investigate the situation. Of course it didn't help when one of the random smoke detectors around the house decided to start chirping at about 1AM because the battery was going low.

So today I'll take my coffee black with extra sugar and may use my lunch hour to take a nap under my desk.  I just hope my co-workers can keep it down while I try to catch a few much needed Zzzzs!
