Maybe it was the cool weather last night. Or maybe it was the reminder I got from PYX 106 that the GIANTS pre-season football games start in TWO WEEKS. Either way, I'm READY FOR SOME FOOTBALL!
One of my football "bucket list" items, in addition to seeing my team play in a playoff game and attending the Super Bowl at some point, is meeting a fan from EVERY NFL team. All 32 of them. Right now, I have 2 to go.
I'm a third-generation San Diego Chargers fan. Yes, I was born in San Diego. I've been suffering with my team since the days of Dan Fouts. I do believe that my team is cursed when it comes to winning the BIG game. The Chargers are always on the cusp of greatness which has lead me to be "cautiously optimistic" about life.
Since I've worked in Radio for almost twenty years, I've been able to live in some GREAT football towns and have had the pleasure of meeting a TON of fans. I try to get a Chargers game once when they play in New York. My most recent game was at the old GIANTS stadium when Philip Rivers led the Chargers comeback in the fourth quarter to beat the GIANTS at home (we're still 3-0 since the Eli Manning Draft Day trade against the GIANTS).
The only two teams left on my FAN search are: the Seattle Seahawks and the Houston Texas. Honestly, I can't even recall seeing a Seahawks or Texans fan in my travels. I've played golf with a Lions fan, shared a bus ride in Disney with Saints family, worked with a Jaguars fan (that's a tough team to check off the list), have Nashville friends who are Titan crazies, grew up in Arizona with a handful of Cardinals fans, and yes, have shared a beer with a Carolina Panthers season ticket holder.
If you know where I can find a Seahawks or Texans fan here in the "518," let them know there's a Charger fan who would love to catch up with them sometime.
