Every Valentine's Day, some boyfriends and husbands struggle with the dilemma of buying lingerie. Is it cheesy or romantic?

If you’re taking the plunge and buying something lacy for your lady friend, here are some guidelines:

• Put some thought into it – Make sure you’re officially dating (or married to) the woman, have already slept together and know for a fact that she already owns lingerie.
   
• Have a plan – Know your lady. If she loves to wear dresses, you might be able to get her something racy. If she’s shy about her body, stay away from thongs.
   
• Stay classy – if you get her something cheap, the fabric will probably be harsh and itchy – and she’ll never forgive you.
   
• Do the math – You gotta know her size. You cannot guess.
